The term “big data” is tossed around like everyone knows exactly what it means. In its simplest form, it is massive amounts of structured and unstructured data coming from numerous sources that is then interpreted and distilled into useful knowledge.

Who can do that and how? Dr. Jennifer Priestley, professor of Statistics and Data Science at Kennesaw State University, is an expert in the process of extracting valuable insights from raw data and educating the skills necessary to derive meaningful results.

Join us Monday, July 21 for the #OBISeries and hear Jennifer discuss the role of big data in decision making and the art and science that goes into the development of a top rate data scientist.

A former executive with companies including Andersen Consulting, AT&T, Mastercard and Visa, Dr. Jennifer Priestley is an associate professor of statistics at Kennesaw State University, where she is the director of the Center for Statistics and Analytical Services. She previously oversaw the undergraduate curriculum in statistics and was recognized by the SAS Institute as the 2012 Distinguished Statistics Professor of the Year. She served as the co-chair of the 2012 National Analytics Conference in Las Vegas, NV.
